Attraction starts with personality.

Step into a room where the conversation is already going and meet new people. You get to know them through conversation, and you decide when your photo is shown. For friendship, dating or both.

Completely free for everyone · no premium · no paid visibility

The Café · evening coffee 19–21

The room is the profile

Step in where the conversation is already going.

The rooms are lively places built around interests. You see who’s there before you say anything, and what you have in common gives you something to talk about from the very first moment. That’s where personality shows: in how someone jokes, asks and answers.

During the pilot, three rooms are open at set times, so there are people there when you arrive. The cards show the experience, not the number of active members. More about the rooms

Silent demo film, 22 seconds: the conversation in the room and a real-life meet-up. The people are illustrated demo characters aged 30–60. Watch the full film (2 min 43 s)

How it works

From a shared interest to a real connection.

Three steps, at your own pace.

  1. 01

    Step into a room

Pick a room around something you enjoy, see who’s there and talk in the open conversation. Or start your own, open to everyone or private.

  2. 02

Get to know people at your own pace

Message someone you’ve met privately, or say you’d like to meet again. Whoever takes the step shows their face. In Chemistry before photo you talk first, and the photos are shown once you’ve both said yes.

  3. 03

    Meet up in real life

Anyone in the room can suggest a coffee, a walk or an after work. The location is an area, never an address, and the host is always a verified member.

Friendship, dating or both

You don’t have to be looking for love to belong here.

Just moved, newly separated or simply tired of your circle of friends shrinking: friendship is not a second-best choice. Your intention is shown next to your name and never decides which rooms you can step into. Romantic steps only appear when your intentions match.

  • FriendshipA workout buddy, others who are new in town or a team for quiz night.
  • DatingMeet someone through conversation and shared interests before you take it private.
  • BothNew social circles, and open to something more.
  • Not sure yetCome as you are. You can change your mind at any time.

Free means free

Everything is included. For everyone. Automatically.

Mingle has no premium tiers and no locked features. The rooms, private messaging, Meet again and meet-ups are included for everyone. No one can buy visibility or a place ahead of anyone else.

Safety from the start

Control should be felt, not just mentioned.

Mingle is being built with clear boundaries for adults meeting adults. The pilot requires 18+, and the safety features are being tested before participants are invited.

An adult product, with verification

The pilot is for people over 18, which you confirm when you sign up. Optional photo verification gives a ✓ badge on your profile, and enhanced age assurance is prepared and will be activated after a legal decision.

Your photo, your choice

You choose “Show my photo” or “Not yet”. If you don’t show a photo, you see other people’s as silhouettes – give and take. Photos are checked automatically before others see them, and a photo you remove is deleted.

Report, block, moderate

Mingle is being built with reporting, blocking and moderation flows. They are tested against the pilot’s safety requirements.

Location without unnecessary precision

The app only asks for approximate location — never precise GPS permission — and coordinates are rounded to roughly one kilometre before they are saved.

Who’s behind Mingle

A person you can reach, not an anonymous app.

“I’m building Mingle to make it easier to get to know new people as an adult – through conversation and in real life, not by swiping.”

Read why I’m building Mingle

  • Free, and not for profitEverything in Mingle is free for everyone, with no premium and no paid visibility. I’m not trying to make money from Mingle. Voluntary contributions go towards keeping the service running.
  • People talking to peopleReal people meet here in conversation, not profiles in a deck of cards. You get to know someone in how they joke, ask and answer, and then you meet for real.
  • Not chasing your timeNo points, streaks or endless feeds designed to keep you hooked. Mingle has succeeded when you put your phone down to meet someone, not when you get stuck in the app.

Would you like to help?

Mingle is being built by one person, but it needs more people to become really good. I’m looking for people who want to contribute their time and know-how. The roles are voluntary, for example:

  • TesterTry the app before everyone else and tell me what feels off.
  • MarketerHelp more people find their way here.
  • ModeratorKeep the rooms safe and warm, in Swedish or English.
  • Something elseDesign, writing, legal, development or whatever you’re good at.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers before you sign up.

Who is Mingle for?

Adults, mainly aged 30–60, who are done with swiping and would rather get to know someone through conversation and in real life. You must be at least 18. Younger adults are welcome, but the rooms, the questions and the times are made for people with a life to fit it all into.

Is Mingle a dating app?

Mingle supports dating, but you don’t have to be looking for love to belong here. Friendship and community are fully fledged modes, and romantic steps only appear when your intentions match. The rooms are the core; private messaging, Meet again, Chemistry before photo and real-life meet-ups are ways forward when you want them.

Do I have to show a real photo?

Not to take part. You can be in the rooms and talk without a photo. You choose between two modes: “Show my photo” or “Not yet”. If you don’t show a photo, you see other people’s as silhouettes – give and take. Whoever takes the step to private contact shows who they are: to message someone privately in a room, both you and that person must show a photo in the room. Chemistry before photo requires a photo and a verified profile, but the photo is only shown once you’ve both said yes. Your photos never become visible just because you enter a room or someone opens your profile.

How does Chemistry before photo work?

You first get to know each other through conversation, without seeing each other’s photos. The photos are only shown once you’ve both said yes, and a “not now” is always private. Chemistry before photo requires you to have a photo and a verified profile.

What are the rooms?

Lively rooms around interests. You see who’s in, the conversation is always going, and anyone in the room can suggest a real-life meet-up that people in the room can sign up for with one tap. You can also start your own room – open to everyone or private, where only the people you invite from your matches can get in.

How does verification work?

Photo verification is optional: a private selfie is reviewed and deleted straight after the decision, and approved verification gives a ✓ badge. You can skip the step and do it later. It is required for Chemistry before photo. Enhanced age assurance without ID copies is prepared and will be activated after a legal decision.

When is Mingle launching?

No launch date has been set. Invitations may be sent out in rounds once the technical and operational pilot is ready.

What happens after I join the waitlist?

You’ll land on a confirmation page. If you’re selected for a pilot round, you’ll get more information by email. Signing up isn’t a promise of a place and doesn’t create an app account.

How do I delete my data?

You can contact support about your waitlist data. For a future app account, there’s the Delete account page.
